Summary: With three pandemics roiling the nation-COVID-19, economic disruption, and social injustice- our healthcare system has risen to the challenge, even as many inherent fragilities have been exposed. As the virus magnified disparities and decimated previously reliable revenue sources, every aspect of academic medicine-from education, to research, to clinical care- has been forced to rapidly modify the status quo. Although the magnitude of destruction will be forever sealed into our collective memories, we also have an opportunity to adapt in ways that are ultimately beneficial. How can this disruptive transformation be translated into sustained positive change for cardiovascular medicine and patients?
