The work of
McGowan Institute for Regenerative Medicine
affiliated faculty member Fabrisia Ambrosio, PhD, MPT (pictured), assistant professor and research scientist in the Department of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation and post-doctoral associate in the Human Engineering Research Laboratories, University of Pittsburgh, is highlighted in the new 2012 "CELLebrity" Doctors Calendar. The calendar is a special project of the Sabrina Cohen Foundation for Stem Cell Research (SCF). Designed to educate the public about stem cell research, the 2012 Calendar of “CELLebrity” doctors captures some of the leading female scientists around the world involved in advancing stem cell research--from the U.S. to Canada to Australia (last year’s calendar focused on male scientists). The calendar highlights highly renowned doctors – outside of the lab – and spotlights them in their various disciplines within the field of regenerative medicine.
The SCF is an internationally recognized nonprofit organization dedicated to building a global network of top scientists and clinicians in the field of regenerative medicine, while simultaneously funding cutting edge research and innovative therapies that will reverse spinal cord injury and effectively treat other impairments of the central nervous system. SCF has assembled a diversified Science Advisory Board, and is uniquely positioned to take the lead on funding relevant research. SCF is committed to supplying grants to the best research facilities in the world and to promote public appreciation of the extraordinary efforts of these scientists and clinicians. All proceeds from calendar sales benefit the SCF and will be earmarked towards funding stem cell research.
